Is it premature to say this is top contender for my fave from 2026( so far)?
Vancouver's ACTORS "Left On Read" is a perfect little gem of a tune with just the right amount of production gloss that's lucid and rich but never abrasive
It’s short and sweet and full of angst at the same time, and it sums up that sinking feeling in your gut where you’re left hanging and wondering if you'll even hear back… when sending two consecutive messages would be a violation of some imaginary etiquette and you just wish you could stop overthinking…
But remember answering machines? You'd leave a message and be content with the knowledge that the recipient would hear your message later on sometime when they get home. Today, if we don't get an immediate reply...
I closed out my latest 1-hr mix with this track, preceded by my 2025 fave, Future City Punks' Remix of Paper Rock by Obscura Hail
I heard a saying once, along the lines of, "The more available I am, the less present I can be."
